Day 40 8pm Wednesday 17th July 2019 ( UTC+6 )
With the forecast for increasing wind and leaden skies two reefs were put in the main at 6am which with the full jib served well but as midday approached squalls and then light and variable winds set up a confused sea and many course changes were required to keep the sails full and the jerky motion bearable. This continued through much of the afternoon but we have now found a sweet spot with two thirds of the jib furled and the staysail set. Because of the jerky motion the desalinator kept sucking in air bubbles and required restarting quite a few times. I'm sure this can't be good for the membrane so after three hours of operation it was shut down. There were no birds working so I concluded there would be no fish biting and stowed the lure for a nicer day.
