The way I noticed the wind was easing after I gybed to the new heading at breakfast time was that my after lunch nap was being disturbed by unnecessary rolling. Squeezing the eyelids didn't help but putting up the first bit of main did resulting in a nice steady motion which has been absent for the last few days; and just now as I was about to prepare my after dinner espresso the slat of the boom requested just a little more. Mission accomplished on both counts with a single reefed main and a single black shot.
