Day 46 8pm Tuesday 23rd July 2019 ( UTC +5 )
I noticed a small vertical tear in the staysail 200 mm long 700mm above the clew so I took it down and replaced it with the red storm jib which is only marginally smaller. I was half contemplating this sail change as a precaution as strong winds can be expected over the coming weeks. The tear lent itself to a super glue and tape repair but I will keep a close eye on it when I swap it back in the benign waters of the South Atlantic. On a port tack now on course for a waypoint just South of Madagascar but have an adverse current of about a knot, so even with the one reef in the main and the jib pulling nicely we are barely making 5 knots over the ground.
