Currents

Day 51 8pm Sunday 28th July 2019 ( UTC +4 )
The good progress is all our own work unassisted by any outside forces such as favourable currents. Here is a graph of Predictwind prognostications for the present week. Though it looks a bit like Sirius' breakfast, the top section shows strength, up to 1.2 knots and the lower the direction, which as mentioned before, is all over the place. The nett effect is slightly negative which is reflected in the log. As the wind speed and direction were not functioning I had disconnected the 5 masthead leads and miraculously the paddle wheel ( actual speed through the water ) log now once again feeds into the integrated system showing the distance travelled through the water and the distance travelled over ground on the one screen. This incidentally also tallies with the distance back to any waypoint, such as a noon sight, I might have push buttoned in. As well it also gives a speed input into the autopilot's gyrations. Win win but no wind. Probably because my dreams were getting too complicated to figure out while I was asleep I got up at 3am and shook out both reefs in the main which got us tootling along as we have been all day in bright sunshine. Two solitary terns took one disdainful look at my lure and moved on. Any fish didn't even bother to do that.
