Day 52 8pm Monday 29th July 2019 ( UTC +4 )
We headed North West last night to dodge some possible calms to the South then back on course for The Cape in the early hours. With light quartering winds forecast for the next few days the tightly furled BiSymmetric* was carefully unwound in the saloon and the 200 mm tear patched with sticky tape and Supa Glue. The pole was set up independently to Port with fore and aft guys and its topping lift and now we are ghosting along making just under 5 knots since lunch in a breeze that wouldn't blow out a candle - or at least a Redhead Barbecue Lighter with Platinum Catalyst, its closest available comparator. The decision has been made to plot a course direct for Cape Aguhlas and forego trying join its namesake current but any assistance from it will be gratefully accepted.
