Yes indeed we did hook in nicely to the Agulhas Current which on the Predictwind site had it running in our direction at up to 2.5 knots. After a fitful night of lolling around the breeze came in just on 6am and soon the full main and jib had us loping along to average 9 knots for the morning which eased back to 7.5 knots for the afternoon as the wind and chop got up and sail gradually reduced. With the info from Met SA indicating gale force in this area we are now snugged down to double reefed main and storm staysail. I altered the sheeting position to make it flatter and at present is sending us along nicely close hauled into twenty plus knots.
Whenever you have a good days run the temptation is to parlay that into the possible finish date which brought to mind Charles' comment on the sauce. As this is the only thing different to last time perhaps this might provide the information required. You can see by the fact that the level of the sauce intersects neatly the centre of lift, and therefore the centre of gravity, of the roosters wings, that the sauce bottle is exactly half full. So I got out my calculator the result of which you will see in my next post.
