Getting Over The Grumps
03 September 2019 | 450 Miles South East of Equator at 20 W
Day 88 7pm Tuesday 3rd September 2019 ( UTC -1 )
The trouble about yesterday was that I was comparing a particularly fast run of L'Eau Commotion through this area a couple of years back but closer inspection of the log did show a fall off in speed once past Ascension. The trick will be to get through the doldrums as it easy to lose a day or two at a time which altogether negates a knot or so gained on the approach. As it stands we are now six days ahead of L'Eau Commotion's first effort and eighteen days ahead of Katherine Ann. I have to admit that the sailing is really quite nice with bright sunshine and starry skies ( depending on when you look ) and a steady warm breeze flowing through the open hatchways giving us a speed close to six knots rounds it out.
