With the very slow speeds experienced yesterday L’Eau Commotion was put on Windpilot hence the highly erratic course through last night. Get everything set up and moving smoothly in the right direction at one or two knots and it's time for a nap. A gentle nodding of the prow as she follows the wind around wakes me. Repeat. With the wind a little more on the quarter and with some tinkering we have been going well on course today and with the jib poled out to leeward the yacht is more directionally stable. I have found that using the autopilot and the desalinator concurrently the desalinator occasionally hangs up because of the fluctuating voltages so the opportunity was taken to run the desalinator for six hours and thus another thirty litres of sweet fresh water.Even with the hatches open and a flow through breeze the temperature in the cabin nudged thirty so a shade cloth was set up to shield the direct midday sun. I must add that with this sail combination and only a slight swell from the ten knot wind the going is extraordinarily comfortable whilst still making close to six knots, despite the contrary Equatorial Counter Current of around a half knot. And the outlook for a clear run through the doldrums remains.
