Day 102 6pm Tuesday 17th September 2019 ( UTC-2 )
It has been said in yachting circles that Gentlemen only Sail to windward when someone fires a gun at them so though no claim to the former I am under orders to go to the opposite ends of the Earth and round the nearest island I can find, headwinds not withstanding. So Hierro it is. Mind you after the last few days of meandering a purpose in life will outweigh the negatives. The signs of Sahara dust are in the air with Fogo barely discernible at 30 miles so here's hoping the causation won't be far behind. For the last few hours we have been totally becalmed so waiting patiently for that long promised steady Nor'Easter.
