Idyllic Sailing
22 October 2019 | 145 Miles North West Of St Peter & St Paul Rocks

Day 137 6pm Tuesday 22nd October 2019 ( UTC-2 )
Yes idyllic is the only word to describe the sailing we have experienced all last night and all today. A gentle breeze wafted us on our way through the night and dawn was announced with a gentle shower of which I partook. Gone is any trace of Sahara sand haze to be replaced with incredibly clear blue skies and a deep blue sea with billowing but never threatening large white Cu's. The full main and jib with eased sheets have provided the power to shrug aside the annoying current and still have us a point or two above our direct course which passes by the dramatic island of Fernando De Norohna 420 miles to the South South West. As you can see in the photo now and again a rainbow would announce that it is time to temporarily close the saloon hatch which otherwise has remained open all day with no danger of spray from the sea completely devoid of white caps but strong enough to yield four to five knots despite the current.
