A bright early sunrise was soon obscured by a heavy fog which is still with us and visibility is below 400 metres. Even though the sun is totally obscured the panels are collecting those few precious amps to run essential pieces of equipment such as this iPad and the Iridium Go. The AIS does tend to drain the battery a bit so I turn it on every few hours and check around the clock; in any case a vessel is unlikely to have an AIS receiver / transceiver without also having its radar turned on in these foggy conditions and the Echomax always chirps before the AIS registers. In these very light airs it's good to have the main back again which I expect to carry full through the night before the freshening Northerly requires a reef or two in the early morning. So far so good with the route planning to reach the Straits of Lemaire via the West of The Falklands though the predictions beyond two or three days in these parts have to be taken with a grain of salt. On a personal note the shorts have been replaced by long johns jeans and sox so it's all nice and cosy in the draught free cabin.
