Day 1704pm Sunday 24th November 2019 ( UTC-4 )
My intentions of carrying full sail through the night were soon blown away with the increasing Northerly having us round up and tear away to the North West. Accordingly the jib was soon stowed and the staysail set with two reefs in the main which served us well till dawn when a little enthusiasm was shown by showing some of the jib. Since lunch itâs back to basics but still making good time of around six knots and right on course to clear the West Falklands. Of note today was the complete absence of any seabirds - not a solitary soul was seen all day which I put down to us being on the rising continental slope as we approach the continental shelf and the absence of any current. It's rather gloomy with only an occasional glimpse of a watery sun but well offset by the good progress and smooth travelling in the quartering Northerly of about 25 knots.
