06 December 2019 | 40 Miles South Of Isla Desolacion, Straits Of Magellan
Day 182 3pm Friday 6th December 2019 ( UTC-5 )
Still carrying the staysail and double reefed main hard on the wind of around 25 knots which is about as much as L'Eau Commotion can handle comfortably with the odd bounce and splash to remind us where we're at. The good news is we are promised a more comfortable night with the easing wind backing a few points to the West and the likelihood we can get much of the way to 50 degrees South on the one tack and that we should be able to maintain our average speed of over 5 knots. In the overcast and poor visibility Isla Desolacion has not been sighted though the closest parts are only 20 miles away to the North East. We are not far off the continental shelf and there is an abundance of bird life doing more skylarking than would appear necessary.
