Just Coasting Along
14 December 2019 | 130 Miles South Of Puerto Montt
Day 190 3pm Saturday 14th December 2019 ( UTC-5 )
Every time I put out the jib along comes a puff, the gun'l goes under and up she rounds so now I am content with just the staysail and single reefed main. I have a feeling the North going Humboldt, or Peru, current is a little stronger than than the 3/10ths of a knot forecast so we are making a comfortable speed over the ground of just under six knots. The misty rain of this morning is giving way to thin high cloud and a sun strong enough to keep all the instruments topped up which are indicating the converging course of a ship, still unidentified, 30 miles to the ESE. Just as a footnote I might add that when I say South of Puerto Montt I am referring to its latitude and will continue this nomenclature for other towns and cities as I sail parallel to the Chilean Coast.
