Day 194 3pm Wednesday 18th December 2019 ( UTC-5 )
This fellow couldn't have been long on the line as I had just re aimed the solar panel a few minutes before and heâs a beauty - a big eye tuna which must weigh 10 Kilos at least. I was lucky to land him as my first attempt with the gaff tore out of what I thought was a good grip. Also of note the small spoon was skipping along the surface most of the time as we are making around six knots close hauled. It looks unlikely that I will see Robinson Crusoe Island which is a shame as I remember a warm welcome and great feasts of lobster on my prior visit. Just a word on the poled out jib. I actually have the pole and boom out to the lee, at present this is to Starboard in the WNW breeze and with the cut of the sail and the pole placement I can sheet in the jib for into the wind and the other sheet goes through the end of the pole for reaching, all with the minimum of fuss.
