I eventually settled on a broad reach with the main to Starboard and the jib poled out on the same side for a course set toward Pitcairn Island. In the big picture it seems no matter how far North we should go extensive areas of light winds are forecast so Occam's Razor has been applied to route planning and we are taking the line of least resistance. The main trouble with sail combinations is just the lack of wind - the sensation of carting along a load of goose barnacles is wiped away with any slight increase in the breeze which at the moment I have not got. The big boys certainly get a move on in the Hobart though It seems Scallywag should have done a Fonz.
