Always great to get news from afar so Congratulations Adrian for winning the Australian Championship in the Arrow Class Catamaran. With that fresh in the mind it was time to put out more sail so I shook out the last reef in the main and surveyed my handiwork. Despite repeated attempts to unsee it a rip remained in the upper part of the sail where it was rubbing on the outer shroud so down she came. The thought of taking off the sail soon gave way to the much simpler idea of stitching the sail by repeatedly going round the mast stitching through from each side. The tear/wear was in two parts totalling two hand spans and despite the mileage and fancy footwork the repair was finished in short order. Sorry Jesse -Iâll take more care in future and only run with the first or second reef when by snugging down the vang the sail is kept clear of the rigging. Iâm just about right for water and with food to spare it's now just a game of patience with one card short in the pack and that's the wind.
