This little gannet has obviously more faith in the GRIB files than I have at the moment as he joined me at dusk yesterday and is determined to stick it out despite frequent calms and wind shifts. He has been dislodged from his perch on the pulpit several times as the jib is furled and reset and the main gybed and reefed in a fruitless attempt to gain some meaningful miles and was having trouble alighting in the dark until I switched on the landing lights. I don't know what type he is but is distinctive in a rich brown coat with blue beak and bright red legs.
