An afternoon tour of inspection revealed a 2 metre rent in the jib near the leach about 4 metres down from the peak so the sail was lowered unshackled and poked into the saloon through its hatch. A closer inspection showed similar small tears in the crease at the UV cover joint which no doubt was formed when I carelessly allowed the jib to flog on more than one occasion. It was obvious this would take longer than a few hours so the Asymmetrical was set to Port with the clew sheet fed through the spinnaker pole which seemed to suit the light airs just fine. Wear was also noted on various halyards so by the time this was all attended to supper time was approaching so the sewing was postponed to today.
