We are making Water!!

Well, after months of water maker woes, we finally received the new membranes from the manufacturer and presto, 200ppm water in the first half hour. They claim after 15 hours or so it will settle in and be much improved. Lessons learned? 1) Always, always buy the manufacturers membranes even if they are double the cost. 2) Make sure of the flow requirements of the membranes you install. 3)Refer to one and two above. The issue all along had been membranes that were not suited to the lower flow volume of our system. Whew, now that this is behind us we can focus on having some fun and planning the next adventure. Today we had a visit from our next door neighbours from back home Gerry and Judi, and another couple they were visiting here in La Paz Jim and Yvonne. Pretty cool to visit with neighbours this far from home. They even brought the wine and snacks awesome. Yesterday while preparing to go to a Pacific Puddle Jump Crossing meeting I heard someone on the dock near our boat claim that "this boat is hull No 3 and it was...." I had to investigate this as he was accurate in his claim and I was quite surprised to hear that. It was a friendly couple with another Sundeer like ours who are over in Marina Costa Baja and have brought the boat here to sell. We arranged to meet them again tomorrow and have a look at the boat and of course tap them for knowledge. They are original owners from 1996 and have sailed her many thousands of miles so we will be able to learn all kinds of good things. After the meeting we met up with Swagman and did the Mexican lunch thing at Bravo Market, Chicken Mole, Sopas, Empanadas, Veggie Soup and it was all fantastic. It is an old market with seafood, meat and tons of fresh produce, really cool. Next few days we will be prepping to head out of La Paz. As much as it is truly perfect here, it is time to move on or risk getting stuck in Velcro Bay. Very easy to understand why so many have succumbed to the fly paper and velcro that holds them here or keeps them coming back. The people of the Baja are fantastic, the weather is tough to beat anywhere, very few bugs and scenery that rivals anything anywhere. We will definitely come back here one day via land yacht and experience it again. Anyone looking for a laid back spot to hang out, nice folks to meet, real Mexican experiences and perfect weather need to give La Paz a visit. Forget Cabo unless you are looking for party central. Deb and John of Scott Free Eh! as well as Rocky and Renaye of Euphoria, are reportedly headed back North from the other side bound for La Paz so we will likely cross paths out on the Sea and have a mid Sea rendezvous. Looking forward to it!
