Headed South
19 November 2015
The day has finally arrived and we plan to clear out and head for New Zealand Sat am. It looks to be a rough and wet start with high 20's on the nose then backing to Easterly high teens then going a little light towards the end of the passage. We will probably log 1200 miles or so on this one and arrive just as it begins to warm up in New Zealand. It has been totally awesome weather here for quite a while and getting hotter by the day. Today it was 36 C in the cabin. A little toasty for us even having aclimated. Looking forward to putting out to sea and a change of scenery, not that there is anything wrong with swaying palms and sand atols and blue blue water, on the contrary it is paradise to be sure. Growing up with four distinct seasons we sort of miss the changes brought about by the calendar and will be happy for a change from the heat,,,for a while at least. Tan feet and everything else will slowly lighten up as reality of cooler climes dictates,,,clothing,,,argh. Shoes and socks are the worst to re aquaint your self too. Such is life down here in cyclone country where you need to migrate South for the summer.
More in a Fiji summary about what we learned while here and why folks just keep coming back. We are in Port Denarau the major hub for tourist tansfer to resorts etc,,, and we feel for thm, knowing what they are seeing is not the real Fiji and of they could see what we have seen they would have a much different experience. So if after what you hear and read you want to visit Fiji,,,Do It and get out to the Villages and meet the nicest people you will find anywhere.
Sota Tale,,,See ya later Fiji, we love it here!
