Baja Haha 2010 and on to La Paz I

11 November 2010 | Marina Costa Baja, La Paz
Lewis Keizer
After logging 1200 sailing miles, and after four weeks, I am finally at La Paz. My crew dropped off at Cabo San Lucas and I single-handed the three-day voyage North up into the Sea of Cortez. Much nicer to finally be alone.

Frank and I sailed out of San Francisco Bay on the morning of October 14.
We reached Santa Cruz after a night of sailing in thick fog. We met Ken there. The forecast was bad, but they wanted to start, so we did. But two miles out the prop fouled in kelp and surgical tubing (fishing stuff), the crew made an accidental jibe that broke a boom fitting. We sailed crippled back to port and hired a diver to clear the prop while I taxied to West Marine for the replacement fitting. It was raining all day, so we waiting until the weather cleared on Monday the 16th and began again.
