I took a huge hike this morning around the point to some beautiful houses along the open sea. The roads are built but most of the lots are still raw land. The way things are growing here, those lots will be sold and houses built in the next decade. My little space 18 in the adjacent Marina has a growing luxury tourist community developing around it. Sailboat is still in the process of refit. Some projects done and some still happening. As always one step back for every two steps forward as we renew this old boat. For example, I was continuing to have high temp issues at load on the diesel even after replacing the impeller and servicing the heat exchanger last year. Manuel suggested changing the impeller again and I objected because we just changed it the last year. Sure enough the new impeller also lost a fin and needed replacing. I'm wondering if the impellers Bob had as spares were themselves a decade or more old and prone to failure. Manuel said it is also caused by leaving the sailboat for months between uses and the impeller can dry out and break when used. And the old heart inverter/charger finally failed to the point of no return. It's 25 year old technology at this point and it has been giving me more and more trouble. The tech for battery chargers and inverters has advanced considerably so the sine wave of the new inverter output is better for modern electronics and the replacement should be better at the data display as well. The old one is not working right. Always something with boats.
