In my sailing life it means away from the shore in the sailboat, in the sea. Also used now when I'm back with the kids. Except I am in it a lot more in the latter respect and that is my pleasure at this point in my life. In the meantime, OZ sits quietly and safely at dock in Marina Real at the edge of Sonora bay.
