The 4th Crew Member

15 October 2007 | Cape Town
Shaun
We are a crew of 4 on this delivery. Our Skipper John, yours truly 1st Mate and the other two crew members Shaheda and an Australian guy, Terry.

Terry is married to Kerrie and they have two youngsters a 17 year old son and 20 year old daughter. Terry is on a sabbatical and will arrive in Cape Town on the 18th October. He will do some exploring travelling down the Garden Route and taking in some of the best sites this World has to offer. We have never met Terry but have been in regular email contact. Terry is very excited about the delivery and has been working hard at studying fish recipes.

On a delvery like this there are no passengers. Everyone pitches in with everything, the cooking, cleaning and most importantly the watches. These are normally 3 hours long where each crew member is put in charge of ensuring that the boat sails on the required course, keeps a look-out for any other vessels or possible submerged obstacles, like a goods container, which could pose a collision risk. There are also daily inspections of the rigging and equipment to ensure the boat remains safe to sail.

Regards till next time
