Slow progress

Cheryl's Notes:
We started the day out heading towards Awendaw Creek. Bev and Arnie from Scandia were in there last night and said that it is very nice. Our plans changed when we checked the weather reports. Our new friend, Bob of Pelican, was going to meet us there. He got there first and decided that it was completely open, with no protection from winds. He was coming out of the creek as we approached. He led us farther south to a Graham's Creek which was smaller, but had some protection from winds. He came over to our boat for happy hour and we spent some time getting to know each other. We were going to head to Charleston tomorrow, but the weather is supposed to get really nasty down there. Charleston is pretty open to the Atlantic, and isn't very protected from high winds. Plus, the current running through there can be difficult on a good day, and severe during bad weather. We are going to head to Whiteside Creek and gunk hole until this weather system passes.
John's Notes:
Fact is, we could have stayed in Awendaw Creek. There wasn't any wind to speak of last night. I can see why Bev and Arnie liked it. Still, where we ended up was fine too. Had a nice get to know you visit with Bob Fine. He informed us that our Bayfield friends, Patty and Dave, were at the boat show in Annapolis. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to call Dave on the phone yesterday afternoon and give him a little "what for," for not calling us. We could have driven up and at least had dinner with them. Maybe next year. Dave told me that he has retired as of last summer and that Pat is doing the same this coming summer. Good on them. I guess the plan is to finish with boat projects this next summer and then join us in the cruising life. Dave also said that our friend Bruce is looking great after his most recent bout of health issues. I'm told he is off the "brown water." Bruce never sends any email but then again, we don't do much either. The blog is our way to keep up with what we are doing. Note to self though to send Bruce a personal note. Great guys like him are not a dime a dozen.
