War Games

Cheryl's Notes:
We were the last ones to leave the anchorage this morning. It turned out to be a good thing. The boats that left ahead of us hit some really bad patches of fog. With this cold, I have not been a good early riser. We caught glimpses today of the marines training along the waterway. Luckily, they were not doing live fire training today, as the waterway would have been restricted. We could hear the reports in the distance from their training.
We anchored off Beaufort, NC only to find that the Beaufort Bridge is closed due to construction. Tomorrow morning we will have to backtrack through Beaufort sound to hook back up with the ICW.
John's Notes:
Woke up this morning to discover that just about everyone had left the anchorage except a couple of us. Later learned that they were trying to make the 0700 opening of the Onslow Beach Bridge. As I listened to the radio I discovered that there was quite a bit of fog ahead so we decided to delay our departure for an hour. All in all, a pretty uneventful day.
We did see a light infantry amphibious company getting ready to cross the ICW this morning. I think they were waiting for us to pass before they started the morning war games. Cheryl got a couple of pretty good pictures of their close support aircraft, the Osprey.
