The nation's capitol

Cheryl's Notes:
We got up early Saturday morning to ride the tide up to DC. The Potomac River is much like the Hudson River as it is mostly rural, but the shores are covered with old money. We must have passed over 200 pleasure boats out enjoying the weekend. We counted at least 35 Fountain or Formula type speed boats, and the rest were power boats in various shapes and lengths. We really didn't see any sailboats until we got close to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge by Alexandria. Then the harbor became a zoo of sailboats, windsurfers, kayakers, tour boats and water taxis. John was a little high strung by the time we pulled into the Washington Channel.
We were able to anchor right next to Liberty in the middle of the channel. They beat us here by one day, having arrived on Friday morning. We can see the Washington Monument from the boat, and will post pictures as we can.
We have spent one full day in DC. We walked the capital mall today and went to all of the big monuments. Tomorrow we are going to try to work our way through some of the museums.
John's Notes:
If you check the picture album you can see that the search for the elusive Leprechaun continues. It looks like everyone in law enforcement is on the lookout for us. I have to pull my hat over my eyes every time we pass a cop car. They are probably looking for Cheryl who drove the "getaway" vehicle. Until you visit DC you have no idea how many different cop shops there are. No wonder government costs so much. Every agency has their own police force.
