Year 10 Day 57 And The Party Is Over

23 March 2017 | Bobby's Marina, Philipsburg, SInt Maarten
Dave/Mostly Sunny

Tonight, the amazing run of our alma mater’s basketball team finally came to an end. After a very hard fought game, Michigan lost to Oregon 69 to 68. Watching the game was like watching two heavyweight boxers hammering it out. First one would threw a body blow and the other one would stagger a step, then the other one would threw a body blow and the first one would stagger a step. Neither one went down by more than 6 points and each time one would, it would come right back and go ahead a bit. It came down to a last shot by Michigan which clanked off the rim and the game was over. Sigh.

As it turns out, it was a black night all around as the alma mater of our second daughter and our son, University of Arizona, lost to Xavier, 73 to 71. Double sigh.

All was not dark today, however. My back is still healing but it is healed enough that we are now making plans to sailing over to St. Croix this coming Monday night. We have a blog reader friend, Rick, that has invited us to visit him in St. Croix. We love meeting people in different places that we sail to so we are excited about doing this. Since we will be staying in his guest house that is situated behind the main house, we will park the boat in Green Cay Marina while not on board. We also have reserved a car to explore the island.

From St. Croix, we will then sail over to St Thomas where we will pick up our friends, Portia and Steve, who will be with us for two weeks. We are thinking we would explore the Spanish Virgin Island and the US Virgin Islands with them. When they leave us, Joe and Valerie will fly in to St Thomas to spend 4 or 5 days with us and we sail back to Sint Maarten with them. Once there, we will re-provision as we prepared to sail across the North Atlantic on our way to Spain.

Since it was another sunny day, we decided to use the solar oven to roast a delicious prime rib roast. It was cooked to perfection and was the center piece of a wonder dinner. Just another day in paradise.
