Today, the four of us decided to just take it easy and rest up. Portia and Steve were already laid back and mellow, fitting into the true lifestyle of a cruiser. Many times when we have guests come to visit us, they are in the “we only have so few days on Leu Cat, let’s get going” mode. Portia and Steve, being former cruisers for 9 years, know how to enjoy life and instantly slipped back into their “relax, life is good” cruiser mode.

They shared with us that they have no set plans and just wanted to spend time with us and be on Leu Cat. They jokingly said they would not mind just staying at this anchorage their whole time. We had to laugh at that since Portia is very much like me. By that I mean she gets a serious bout of “itchy butt” syndrome after a few days of just sitting around. However, since this was their first full day on Leu Cat, we did just chill the day away: talking, talking and talking some more. It has been a few years since we have seen each other, so we had a lot to catch up on.


For our “excitement of the day”, Portia, Steve and I took the dinghy over to the marina so that I could return a stern light bulb that I bought at the chandlery yesterday since it ended up being for the wrong voltage. Plus, we stopped in at the gourmet supermarket to pick up a few cruiser essentials. You know, things like wine, chips, cookies and, oh yes, some fruits and veggies. Armed with over $200 worth of “essentials” which Portia and Steve insisted on paying for, we returned to Leu Cat so we could take a nap.

Once refreshed from our arduous journey to the marina, we chowed down into some serious burgers and salad, washed down with some of the red wine we bought today. To make the day complete, we played Mexican Train Dominoes, where Steve continued his historic domination of us by winning again. During our passage from the Seychelles to Madagascar, he won about 90 percent of the games. Sigh…
