Year 10 Day 93 And The Work Begins

The concept of forced rest due to the holidays with the service shops closed until Wednesday did not last very long. I decided to charge into the list of projects that I could do and to start dismantling the cabinetry that houses the washing machine. I hope to call the Splendide Tech Center in the US tomorrow and wanted to be able to readily get access to the back of the washing machine to work on whatever the technician will suggest. I have the training manual for this machine so I already have a fair idea of what he is going to say but I still wish to wait until I talk with him.
I also worked on programming the new man over board beacons that I had bought and that Joe and Valerie had brought with them to Leu Cat. However, I am struggling with that and will need to retry the programming sequence again tomorrow.
Toward evening we stopped by S/V Captiva, the boat owned by our friends Michael and Sara Lee. He had emailed us saying that they would be returning to Sint Maarten this evening and will be heading out for the BVIs on Monday. We had stopped by their boat a couple times earlier because Michael had also said that Ron, a friend of theirs who will be helping them sail their boat back to the States, will have moved onto the boat earlier. However, we had missed Ron each time we stopped by.
This time, however, Michael, Sara Lee and Ron were all there working hard to get Captiva ready for her departure tomorrow. We talked briefly and made plans for getting together for breakfast tomorrow. We also offered any assistance that they made end up needing to meet their late afternoon departure time tomorrow.
After our short stop at Captiva, Mary Margaret and I continue on our little walk out of the marina and across the street to the German restaurant called Bavaria. Mary Margaret had suggested we have dinner there tonight. Her suggest was a great one as it offered draft German beer by the ½ liter. Mary Margaret is not a big beer drinker but she does love German lager. There is just something different about the way the German’s make their beer. To my surprise, she joined me in ordering a 1.2 liter stein and we both slurped the golden nectar down. Oooooh, it was soooo good!
We also thoroughly enjoyed our beef stroganoff with spätzle and hot red cabbage. We decided that we would be coming back to sample the many other German dishes this place offers. Of course, just the wonderful beer is enough to bring us back…
