Today Mary Margaret spent the day downloading all of her vast library of books onto her new tablet. It literally took all day. While she was busy doing that, I really had nothing to do. The boat is ship shape: the result of my inspection of the boat with a magnifying glass found virtually no projects needing my attention. Thus, I retired to the hammock and spent most of the day reading and listening to music.

Looking at the weather, it will be at least a week and maybe longer before we can even consider throwing off the dock lines. I am at a lost as to what to do. Is this what retirement is really like?

Up until now, living on a boat and sailing around the world has been like a job. A very enjoyable and rewarding job, but a job nevertheless. There has always been something to keep me busy: whether it has been boat projects, passage making, exploring foreign lands, swimming around the boat or snorkeling on reefs. Cruising has been such an adventuresome experience. Now, however, I am at a loss as to what to do. Fortunately, it will only be for a week or two but it is a total new experience for me. It has taken me 67 years to get to this point. Is this what retirement is like? I hope not.
