Today the above saying is really true for Mary Margaret and I. We said our finally farewells to some of our friends, threw the 6 duffel bags of gear and clothes into the rental car and drove off to LAX. This is how we started our adventure; one that we hope will take us around the world.

After a unusually good flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico, we took a little 9 passenger Cessna commuter flight to Tortola, British Virgin Islands (i.e., BVI). After a quick taxi ride we arrived at Nanny Cay Marina, where Leu Cat has been stationed for the last year and a half. Last week, we removed Leu Cat from the Catamaran Company's charter fleet. When we bought her, we had placed her in charter to help cover the maintenance and operating expenses while we readied ourselves for this big adventure. The CatCo folks have been great keeping Leu Cat in spit and polish condition and, at the same time, generating just enough revenue for us to cover expenses. If anyone is interested in either buying a boat or chartering one, I strongly recommend CatCo.

We arrived late afternoon, after leaving LAX at midnight. The thought of this being our first day of the big adventure still had not hit us. We were too tired to unpack, so after checking out the boat, we headed over to Peg Leg for some cooling drinks and an early dinner. One must remember that we are now on "island time, mon", and the process of having few drinks, getting a table, ordering dinner, having the food served, getting the check, paying the check and retiring to the boat, is not something that is hurried. However, since we no longer are on a schedule, or pressed for time, watching the clock is no longer important. Our priorities are now the boat, weather and making safe voyages......
