Cleaning day

During the last couple of days we had decent wind and made quite some progress. Unfortunately it dropped again this morning to about 5-6 knots app. , while we also had some heavy rain during the night.
We had a tragic accident in the kitchen in the early morning today; while one of our crew members was fighting with the coffee machine (he lost the battle). The Dutch warrior wants to stay anonymous though. Apart from that everybody seems to be in good condition.
As closer we come to Caribbean, the hotter it gets. We're trying our best to get some tan before the end of the trip. During the day we had around 30 degrees on the deck and felt 40 degrees in the hulls. The water temperature is around 28 degrees (measured classic style with our wine thermometer).
Today we dedicated ourselves to the first stage of getting the boat clean. This included the following tasks:
- Scrub all the rust off the boat with a sponge and our good old hands
- Polishing all metal objects with rust on it
- Tighten EVERY screw in and outside the boat
- Fill up the last gasoline left
- Fill up the water tank
- Cleaning the fridge
- Etc.
So as you can see, we're not just lazy bastards, tanning in the sun and drinking beer. To actually proof that, we took a picture of three sweating men scrubbing the deck till total exhaustion.
If everything goes as planned we should reach land on Monday evening.
Greetings from the whole crew.
