Do you know James Cook?
I studied him at school. He was one of the first explorers to sail around the world and to Antarctica. I found it very interesting to learn where Captain Cook had gone, especially now that we sailed to some of these places, for instance Cook's Bay on Moorea Island, or Captain Cook's Landing Site in Tonga. In Cook's times they had only few technical devices (such as compass) and explorer's ships would often sink, because the ships' keels were quite deep. Fortunately nowadays we have GPS, radar, good maps, diesel engines, weather forecasts, and there are no more cannibals. And guess what! James Cook was born on the same day as me (October 27th)!
