Early this morning I logged onto on-line banking only to discover that the money was still there. At a reasonable hour (08h00) I tried to call the bank manager (again) to see what was up. No answer, but I left a voicemail. The bank opens at 09h00, so I was going to call back promptly at 09h00, when at about 08h55 the bank manger called and said the wire transfer had been initiated, and I should let the owner know that in a hour or so he would see the money. By 11h00, I had confirmation from the other broker, that the deal had been sealed, and Liberty was now ours.
In the meantime, Capt Bill had flown down to Miami the day before in anticipation of our closing yesterday. He met up with crew member Chris, and stayed overnight in Miami, in a youth hostel. I know Bill really enjoys hanging around young people, and he loves the cultural diversity found in youth hostels. He said there were 4 different languages being spoken, around the supper table. Early this morning he set off with Chris for KW, and took charge of the Liberty on my behalf.
Luke, Jim and I fly out of Newark on Sunday afternoon, and will sleep aboard the Liberty Sunday night.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers from so many of you the last few days. We look forward to the new adventure and opportunity Liberty represents for us, and want to extend the invitation to all our friends and family to visit us in New York.
The Liberty Schooner, will be docked in the Liberty Landing Marina, in the Liberty State Park, New York Harbor.
