Varnish Season

Winter is downtime for the Liberty Schooner. Besides the "Why Knot Dinner?" program we are running in Jersey City, we are using the winter time to prepare the schooner for a busy summer schedule.

Captain Bill is taking the lead in doing the hard work. All the spars have been stripped and varnished, and are looking great. All the blocks are now being rejuvenated, and the hatch covers are next on the list. Here I am putting the first coat on the staysail boom.

Winter time might be downtime for the Schooner, but it is not downtime for the crew. We are preparing our business plans and finalizing charter contracts, and putting a lot of leg work into marketing.
