Left Staniel Cay and traveled 6 miles to Blackpoint. Blackpoint is a nice town with a couple of restuarants, a grocery store and Rockside laundermat (thats the way they spell it). We went into town and ate a Lorraines Cafe, used the internet, did laundry and went to happy hour at the Scorpio (2 for 1 rum punch and 2 for $5 Kalick Beer-we couldn't pass up a bargain like that) with Bob and Diane of Two of a Kind. The 5F's festival (First Friday in February Farmers Festival) was being held at Little Farmers Cay later in the week so we left Blackpoint and went there midweek to get a good spot to anchor before it got too crowded (or so we thought). When we got to Little Farmers there were already about 25 boats there. The wind was forcast to be 25+ from the west ahead of a cold front and there was no space to anchor anywhere with protection from the west so we decided not to stay. Instead we skipped the festival and headed on down to Georgetown. Georgetown is a big boaters destination. There are a couple of hundred boats here and lots of activities. The cruisers regatta is the first week in March and we will probably stay here through then. A lot of the boats we met in Marathon are here. This is probably as far south as we will go. After March we will start back up the Exuma chain and enjoy all the places we skipped on the way down. We traveled down here rather quickly because of weather; most cold fronts don't make it this far south and if they do they are pretty mild. By March weather should start to get better and we can stop at some of the places that are only good to stop at in settled weather.
We have been sticking pretty close to the boat for the past couple of days due to the squalls and wind that passed through. We did venture out last night so we could watch the Saints win the superbowl. We went to the Peace and Plenty Hotel for a Superbowl party. I can't believe the Saints won. I always heard that the Saints would win the superbowl when hell froze over. Just wondering how you guys in LA are doing? Experiencing any frostbite? Bet there was some partying going on in New Orleans and lots of hangovers today. After the front passed through this weekend the weather has gotten beautiful again. The cold front dropped the temp from 85 down to 75 and took away most of the humidity. Thats my kind of cold front.
