Burial at Sea

09 May 2010 | Blackpoint
I have some sad news. Our cat "Spot" died after a brief illness. She stopped eating a few days ago and started having trouble breathing. Since we are in the middle of nowhere where there are not even any doctors for people, let alone pets we were unable to take her to a vet. She died on Friday April 30. We didn't actually bury her at sea, we buried her on an uninhabited island on top of a hill overlooking the ocean. We decorated her grave with shells, rocks and driftwood from the beach. It was a really sad day for us. Spot came to us as a stray after hurricane Katrina so we don't really know how old she was. Even though she was aggravating sometimes, wanting attention 24/7 she was a really good boat cat and we became very attached to her. We will miss her. Farewell Spot.
