Sock Burning and Blessing of Fleet

10 April 2016 | St Andrews
Still too cool for me
This weekend was the annual Sock Burning and Blessing of the Fleet here in St. Andrews. The sock burning is to say goodby to winter and hello to flip flop season. All of the local businesses have been collecting socks for the past few weeks. The picture above is Hunt's Oyster Bar. Most had clothes lines set up in front of their places for you to add your socks. The marina had a festival this Saturday that included a couple of bands, a Porsche club car show, fish fry, raffles, ugliest sock contest, sock bonfire and blessing of the fleet. It was a benefit for Second Chance, a charity that helps people with brain injuries. Nice weather but a bit cool and as usual, very windy.
