Pensacola Bay

24 June 2017
Got tangled up in a sailboat race in Pensacola Harbor. They were using the intercoastal marker as their racing mark. When they rounded the mark and popped their spinnakers they headed straight across our path. We had to make a quick u-turn to give them right of way. When we thought they were all clear we returned to our original course. However, one boat got his spinnaker wrapped up and decided to turn around to try to reset it and again headed straight for us so we made another u turn. They all finally got clear and we were able to get back on track. At least it was entertaining watching them with their bright colorful sails. We usually know not to travel the ICW in Florida on a weekend during summer. However after spending 5 days in Panama City waiting for tropical storm Cindy to pass we were eager to start for home.
