Long Island

06 April 2019
We left Georgetown and headed down to Long Island along with Vagabond. The trip down was very nice, the water colors were beautiful. We are anchored at Thompson Bay.

While here we rented a van along with Brian and Kellie (Vagabond) and Cheryl and Jack (ZigZag) and toured the island. Here in the Bahamas they drive on the opposite side of the road due to their British heritage. Some of the cars come equipped with right hand steering wheels but our Dodge minivan had standard left hand drive which made it a bit trickier to stay on the correct side. Thankfully Brian volunteered to drive and did a great job.

Some of the highlights of our tour were a stop at Dean's Blue Hole, the twin tower churches at Clarence Town, lunch at the Flying Fish Marina (conch fritters and grilled grouper), a beautiful beach at the south end of the island, afternoon happy hour and conch salad at Max's Conch Shack and numerous other stops of interest along the way. We decided to just tour the southern end this trip and save the northern end for another time as the island is 80 miles long.

We plan to be here a few more days, weather permitting, before heading back to Georgetown for the regatta.
