Heading North

21 March 2020
Crossing the yellow bank dodging coral heads heading back toward Nassau.

Made a decision today to start heading back toward home. The Bahamas is asking for no movement between islands and some islands are asking for no visitors on shore. We had thought of moving down to Long Island but they were one of the ones that didn't want boaters ashore. We are also concerned about the availability of fuel further south.

Another decision maker for us was our health insurance. We had purchased DAN travel insurance that would cover us up to $10,000 for treatment out of the country and included emergency evac back to America for illness or injury. However we recently got an email saying they reserved the right to refuse service during the Covid outbreak. We decided since we were at the age where we were in the higher risk bracket maybe we should get back to the US where we would have access to medical services.

So we are now heading back toward Florida. We understand the Keys have closed down to anyone not from Monroe county so we will probably just head across the gulf toward LA
