Strait of Georgia Blow
27 June 2013 | Drew Bay, Quadra Island
Left False Bay this morning, under sail immediately, and into the Strait of Georgia, which was blowing hard, but the seas had calmed down a bit as compared to the past couple of days. Steady winds in the mid-20s, gusts to mid-30s from abaft the beam (a blustery downwind sail) in the right direction, except for the 1 knot current which ran the opposite direction from our chosen course for half the day. Three jibes in the entire 50-mile sail – now we’re cookin’! We learned some stowage issues very quickly – never realized that drawers could fly.
