Day 2 Cruising

November 3, 2011 Day 2 of cruising.. 64miles total so far.
Anchored at Hospital Point Portsmouth, VA 36º 50.51N 76º18.09W Yea we are at a lower Latitude. Finally left 37º behind. Our destination Georgetown, Great Exuma, Bahamas is Latitude 23º As the crow flies it's 797 nautical miles (917 statute miles) from where we are anchored tonight. Had a nice nights sleep with no anchor alarms going off. ( I have 3 ) We took our time leaving our anchorage. We adjusted the davits system that holds our dinghy.
Definitions:
Dingy - our vehicle that takes us from the mother ship to shore. Our car. ( Carter and Nelson thanks for the loaner motor. We sold our old Taurus for $1300 and bought a dinghy car for $1700.. close enough.. )
Davits - a crazy manual crane system that lifts our dingy our of the water. We are still having issues but fixed it better this afternoon..
So, it was a non-eventful trip until we got to the entrance of Hampton Roads.. Warship coming in. Warship going out. Costco Container ship going out and tugs to dodge. Trying to keep your distance from the warships was the most important thing. We have bad weather coming the next few days and tried to get a slip in a couple marinas. NO VACANCY and were waiting on two to call us back when we decided to anchor for tonight. The weather forecast
