Ya Ha Ha Ting

The fun times aboard Liquid Therapy. With - Susan and Brooke Smith

Day 3 Cruising 11-4-11

Day 3 of cruising. We awoke at anchor at Hospital Point about 6am. Wind and rain was beginning to increase as the forecast had predicted. We had a nice egg and bacon breakfast with cinnamon toast. We had made reservations about 1/2 mile south of here at Ocean Marine Yacht Center. We then tried our teamwork in hauling the anchor in the wind. Susan drives and operates the windlass and I point in the direction the boat needs to move to pull the anchor and wash the chain as it cones out. We had quite a time with the boat being whipped back and forth as we took slack up in the chain each chance we got. The chain jumped off the roller twice as the angle changed quickly. We finally got it aboard and Susan worked her way around the other anchored boats and moved us into the Elizabeth River headed South. We got no response from the marina and just stooped behind Malcom Forbes old boat "The Highlander". I held Liquid Therapy in place while Susan sought out the dockmaster and got our slip instructions. I managed to get the boat turned into the wind and into the slip. We met up with our friends from "Winds Aloft" and dinned in a wonderful Bed and Breakfast call the "Patriot Inn". Lauralea made soup and had bread for us to eat with the Inn keeper and other friends. It is so windy that everything is shaking. Cars, boat and even the windows in the Inn. Wonderful soup wine and champagne were served. We are back on our boat and have doubled our lines. It truly is blowing a gale here. 35-40kts and is to continue into tomorrow. We plan on staying put tomorrow.
