Docked Hope Town Marina

I woke up the morning and Susan asked was I a little sad today. She said she was sad about leaving Hope Town today. I said “me too”. The time has really flown by. We finally got together with Lee and Cheryl Welch yesterday afternoon for some talk time over a drink. Lee and Cheryl have been here since December. I call them the mayors of the Hope Town Marina. We met them on our first crossing from Florida in 2012. They are always busy doing something. We had been trying to get together since we arrived at Hope Town February 4th.
We are down to a crew of 3 since Nelson flew home Tuesday. Our time with him had been with much sickness of the crew. But, we DID get a short cruise in Sunday afternoon down to Tahiti Beach.

Short boat ride Hope Town Marina - Tahiti Beach
8 NM 2.0 Engine Hours
4:00 PM Underway
5:30 PM Docked - Hope Town Marina

It had rained most of Sunday morning and was not looking very good Sunday afternoon. About 3:30 the sun came out and I said “Let’s go for a boat ride”. We got underway right at 4PM and it was nice getting out of the harbor for a little while. I showed Carter and Nelson the anchorages and some of the spectacular homes. The water was not as electric blue as it often is as the sun was on the way down. The water is best seen for visual navigation wen the sun is high. You can actually tell the depth of the water by it’s color. Actually it is just a few colors to avoid brown and white. If it’s blue or blue green you are good to go. The water is so clear you can avoid coral heads or rock ledges.

So, today we are headed to Man-O-War for today. Tomorrow portals Guana or Marsh Harbor, or Treasure Cay. We are going to have a few days to kill until the Whale Cay passage calms down. It’s looking like that might be Tuesday. Anyhow, we will officially be starting our journey back to Virginia today.
Today’s picture is actually one that Susan took last night with my phone on the way to dinner. It is the Atlantic by moonlight.
