DAY 17, 2020 Fall Cruise

Docked - Anchorage Inn Marina Ocracoke
0 miles
LUCK - success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions.
Little bad luck for Liquid Therapy - Yesterday we made the decision to head back to our home marina for some propeller shaft leaking issues. I exchanged emails with my mechanic and he said the engine alignment may be off a bit causing the dripless shaft collar to leak. I have adjusted it 3 times and then it begins leaking again. Adjusting engine alignment is beyond my capabilities. Nothing catastrophic, but annoying. The mechanic installed it three years ago. Everything has been fine. We have been to the Bahamas and back since then and lots of other mileage too. So, We are just going to stay in Ocracoke until next Thursday and then start heading back.
I’m going to swim some laps in the pool. Want to join me the guy asked? He is on a sailboat at the end of our dock. Well, I certainly thought the guy was kidding as he appears to be much older that I am. But he is fit and trim. Physique much better than mine. But hey, he was serious. #1 I don’t swim very well at all. And #2 it’s October and I was surprised the pool was still open. Was this guy actually going to swim laps? He looked very fit had a German. His wife came by and once a joked with him “ I thought you were going to swim some laps.” He said I am. Then I notice his T-shirt has 2014 swim championship from somewhere. They were both fit and trim. You just meet interesting people around boats. Most all the cruising boaters we see are pretty fit. You have to be or you just can’t do this. You don’t see fat people ever. Susan and I are not as nimble for sure as when we got Liquid Therapy 10 years ago. And, we certainly weigh more. But, we are still nimble enough.
PS the German couple have bicycles on board their sailboat, and that is their mode of land transportation. We rented a golf cart.
Today’s picture is sailboat that just sailed in just as the sun set. This would have been a perfect shot a few minutes later when the lighthouse lit up. You just cannot control LUCK.
