Passage - Cape Hatteras National Parks Docks - Berkley Marina Ocracoke, NC
About 200 yards

This morning we moved over to our slip for the rest of our stay in Ocracoke at Berkley Marina The Anchorage Inn Marina is using Berkley Marina for the overflow for the concert filled weekend. It’s going to be a great spot for the music as we only have to walk to the end of our dock and across the street to one of the two stages.

We watched a tractor trailer come off one of the ferries that unloaded tents and set up the stage in the afternoon. The weather threatened all day and I was wondering if the guys would get it all set up.

Late afternoon we got a pretty good shower that rinsed some of the accumulating salt off the boat. I will wipe Liquid Therapy down tomorrow and clean the windows too.

There was nothing much to write home about today except dinner at Jason’s Restaurant. Fresh ‘fish of the day’ was Gray Trout.

‘Sidebar’: My dad loved to catch and eat gray trout in the Chesapeake. I’m not sure I’ve eaten any in over 20 years! Jason’s fried it up just right! I was thinking about Mom and Dad probably fishing for gray trout in Heaven. Any of you that came to my mom’s funeral, saw her gray trout citation plaque. This plaque was for around 11(!) pounds! I have that memento! Dad caught some very large gray trout, but never a citation. He was a little envious of Mom’s catch. Gray trout are rare, now, in the Chesapeake and you can only keep one, IF you happen to catch any!

Susan thinks she had never eaten this fish before, and that it was the best EVER! PS: need to mention the sides we both enjoyed: panfried baby Brussel sprouts and bacon AND ‘starch of the day’ was sour cream and FRESH dilled, baby red bliss mashed potatoes. Truly a delightful meal for our first visit to the highly acclaimed Jason’s Restaurant, here in Ocrafolk! Hope some of the visiting musicians, here for OCRAFOLK, can take time to eat at Jason’s Restaurant.

Today’s picture is a nice catch being displayed by the charter boat at the end of our dock.
