Day 15 Friday, June 4, 2021
05 June 2021 | Berkley Marina, Ocracoke, NC
BROOKE SMITH | Stormy Weather
Docked - Berkley Marina Ocracoke, NC
YEA, It’s finally Ocrafolk’s 1st day of concerts at two different stages! EXCEPT? One stage is UNDERWATER - FLOODED! Performances are supposed to be going on at both stages at the same time. What will they do? My thoughts were they’d cancel.
I get two different emails from the Ocrafolk staff saying the un-flooded stage would go on time but with some of the performers from the flooded stage. We get to our 1st stage 1-5pm and it’s great. Everyone is in good spirits when one of the bands plays “ IT AIN’T GONNA RAIN NO MORE NO MORE” Ha that’s the spirit.
At 4PM Violet Bell performs. This duo is the main reason we came. The two of them are spellbinding. We have also seen them in Richmond and here in Ocracoke before. Anyhow they are always really good.
The rain has paused. I retrieved our golf cart from it’s flooded charging parking lot. And, we are once again mobile. We are so busy with going back and forth to the stage that we just ate leftovers. Tomorrow is really busy with music from 9AM until 10PM. Fanny fatigue will set in and we certainly will not watch everyone. This music festival has a great mix of people, though!
Today’s picture is Lizzy & Omar, of the group Violet Bell. (PS: It just drives me nuts when I feel like I should take over lighting and sound. But as they say it is what it is.)
There’s so much water standing from the rain, that has now stopped briefly, that I cannot get to the golf cart. It’s in a pond of frogs now.
